Walsh University has announced the appointment of Dr. Jacqueline Novak as the new Dean of the School of Arts, Sciences, and Education. Dr. Novak, who previously served as the Interim Dean, has been chosen for her exceptional leadership and dedication to the University's mission.
In a statement, Walsh University Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Mike Dunphy, expressed his appreciation for Dr. Novak's outstanding leadership as Interim Dean. He highlighted her instrumental role in shaping the university's strategies and elevating the School's profile on a regional, national, and international scale. Dr. Dunphy also expressed his excitement for the ongoing collaboration with Dr. Novak as she assumes her new position.
Dr. Novak brings a wealth of experience and expertise to her role as Dean. She has previously served as the Chair of the Department of Mathematics and Sciences, showcasing her adeptness in academic leadership and administrative acumen. Her commitment to advancing the university's academic mission and fostering excellence within her academic domain was further demonstrated when she assumed the role of Interim Dean of the College of Arts, Sciences, and Education.
Not only has Dr. Novak excelled in her administrative roles, but she has also shown exemplary leadership in various capacities. Her dedication to supporting student-athletes was evident during her tenure as the Chair of the FAR council for the Great Midwest Athletics Conference. In recognition of her commitment to personal and professional development, she was selected to participate in the Division II FAR Advanced Leadership Institute. Dr. Novak's advocacy for women in science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics (S.T.E.A.M.) was recognized when she was invited to join Congresswoman Emilia Sykes' Girls in S.T.E.A.M. Advisory Board for 2024.
Furthermore, Dr. Novak played a pivotal role in establishing early assurance programs with NEOMED and LECOM, providing pre-med students at Walsh University with the opportunity to gain early acceptance to medical school and further their academic pursuits.
Dr. Novak's educational background includes a Ph.D. in physiology and biophysics from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine, a Master of Science in Biology from The University of Akron, and a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Walsh University, where she graduated in 1988.
With her impressive credentials and dedication to the university's mission, Dr. Novak is well-suited to lead the School of Arts, Sciences, and Education into its next chapter of academic excellence. Her appointment as Dean marks a significant milestone for Walsh University, as it continues to prioritize academic growth and innovation.
