Walsh University is set to host Genelle Guzman-McMillan, a survivor of the 9/11 attacks, as part of its Education for Life Colloquium Series. The event will take place on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, at the Barrette Business and Community Center starting at 6:30 p.m.

Guzman-McMillan was working in the North Tower of the World Trade Center when it collapsed during the September 11 attacks. She survived 27 hours trapped under rubble and was the last person rescued alive from the site. During this time, she experienced a spiritual awakening that led her to rediscover faith and hope. Her story is described as "a profound testament to resilience and renewal."

The event coincides with the upcoming 24th anniversary of 9/11, offering an opportunity for remembrance and reflection. Guzman-McMillan's testimony provides a living connection to these historic events and invites dialogue on themes such as hope and moral reflection.

Attendees are invited to participate in a book signing and reception following the program at approximately 7:45 p.m. Copies of her memoir, "Angel in the Rubble," will be available for purchase.

The event is free to attend due to support from Christ the King Apostolic Church, Christ the Servant and Little Flower Catholic parishes, along with contributions from the Wilkof and Nolan families. The interfaith series aims to promote discussions around values like faith, excellence, integrity, service, and community.
