Thousands of faithful Catholics from central Florida braved freezing temperatures and snow as they joined the National March for Life in Washington, D.C. on January 19th. The march, which aimed to advocate for the sanctity of life and condemn abortion, attracted passionate participants who were determined to make their voices heard.

Seminarian Jonathan Arias, who was impressed by the mission of the march, recognized that it was not only a battle to save babies in the womb but also for the conversion and soul of the mother. He described the event as intense, with fervor behind each step and the words being proclaimed.

Joseph Binh Dau, a seminarian who had participated in the March for Life for the third time, was inspired by the commitment of the young people to protecting life. He emphasized the importance of speaking out and supporting life and human rights, stating that children deserve love and care from their parents, and that no one should take that away.

Deacon Dan Basille, who is currently studying for the priesthood, experienced a range of emotions during the march. He felt sorrow for the country and those who allowed abortions to happen or chose to remain silent. However, he also felt acceptance of God's mercy for everyone, as well as hope and joy in the fight for the most vulnerable.

Bishop Michael Burbidge of Arlington, Virginia, set the tone for the march during the opening prayer vigil when he declared that the fight for life is not over. He urged the participants to persist in bringing light to the darkest corners and to preach the Gospel without compromise.

Reflecting on the march, Deacon Basille recalled the verse from Isaiah 1:18, which reminded him of God's unending mercy. He expressed his hope that one day there would be no need for such marches, as no one's life would be taken by human hands.

The National March for Life provided a platform for thousands of individuals to come together and advocate for the unborn. It was a testament to the unwavering commitment of Catholics and other pro-life supporters to protect the sanctity of life and promote human dignity.
