Deacon Gregory R.R. Henderson, a humble and compassionate man known for his love and service, passed away on January 18, 2024, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on March 25, 1957, in Santa Barbara, California, Deacon Greg leaves behind an impressive legacy that touched the lives of many.

Throughout his life, Deacon Greg exemplified dedication and integrity. He earned an accounting degree from Northern Arizona University and was recognized as a member of the NCAA Academic All-American Basketball Team. He later pursued a master's in business administration at the Indian Institute of Management in Bangalore, India.

In 1988, Deacon Greg married his beloved wife, Beatriz Camacho, and together they were blessed with eight children. His love and pride for his family were evident in everything he did, both personally and professionally.

Professionally, Deacon Greg's intellect and wisdom shone through. He held positions as the finance director of McKee Wallwork & Co. and vice president of finance at Strascina & Partners, both advertising agencies in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He then dedicated 12 years of his career as the chief financial officer of Accion, a national nonprofit lending corporation.

Deacon Greg's deep faith in Christ led him to answer the call to serve as a permanent deacon. He was ordained for the Archdiocese of Santa Fe in 2003 and served at San Jose Parish and San Martin de Porres in New Mexico. In 2017, he and his family relocated to Tucson, Arizona, where Deacon Greg was appointed as the Chief Financial Officer of the Diocese of Tucson by Bishop Emeritus Gerald F. Kicanas.

Deacon Greg's dedication to his faith and his community was truly remarkable. He served as a deacon at Our Mother of Sorrows and St. Francis de Sales parishes in Tucson, and he was a valued member of numerous boards and committees within the Diocese of Tucson.

Deacon Greg was a man who impressed everyone he met with his humility and compassion. He loved spending time outdoors, hiking with his children and camping. His passing has left a deep wound in the hearts of his family, parishioners, friends, and the community he served so faithfully.

Deacon Greg is survived by his beloved wife, Beatriz, and their children Santiago, Reverend Agustin, Lilia, Evelina, Benjamin, Estevan, Dante, and Francisco. He is also survived by his brother Tom Henderson and his mother-in-law, Alba Keesal.

The Funeral Mass for Deacon Greg will be held at St. Augustine Cathedral on Monday, January 22, 2024. A viewing will take place prior to the Mass, followed by a Rosary. Burial will then be held at Holy Hope Cemetery in Tucson. A reception will be held at the Bishop Kicanas Pastoral Center to honor Deacon Greg's memory.

Deacon Gregory R.R. Henderson will be remembered as a devoted man of faith, a loving husband and father, and a respected member of his community. His legacy of love and service will continue to inspire all those who had the privilege of knowing him. May his soul rest in eternal peace.
