The Emmaus Institute for Biblical Studies is pleased to announce its upcoming spring classes and retreat. Beginning on February 19, the institute will offer a range of courses for both in-person and online participants.
One of the highlight courses is the "Creation to New Creation" journey through the Bible. There will be two 10-week classes held on Mondays and Tuesdays from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. The Monday class, open to everyone, will focus on the last part of the Old Testament—the Prophetic Books from Isaiah through Malachi. Chad Steiner and Vern Steiner will be the instructors for this class.
On Tuesdays, starting from February 20, Joshua Burks will teach the "New Testament Letters and Revelation" course. This course is specifically designed for priests and catechists and will continue from the positively received course on the Gospels and Acts last fall. Students can choose to attend this class in person, virtually online, or through video.
For those interested in earning transfer credits towards an M.A., the University of Mary and the Augustine Institute offer this opportunity. Students can consult with one of the Emmaus staff members for more information.
In addition to the "Creation to New Creation" cohort tracks, Emmaus will also offer two community courses open to everyone this spring. Chad Steiner will teach a five-week class titled "Eucharist" as a Theme Throughout Sacred Scripture. This class will be held on Wednesdays from 6:30 to 8 p.m. and will commence on February 21.
Furthermore, Emmaus President Dr. Vern Steiner will offer a 10-week class called "Ten Chapters All Catholics Should Know Like the Back of Their Hand." This class will take place on Thursdays from 6:30 to 8 p.m., starting on February 22.
All course descriptions and registration details can be found on the Emmaus Institute website at www.emmausinstitute.net. The classes will be held at the Emmaus classrooms in the Calvert Office Park, located at 3601 Calvert, Suite 23, in Lincoln. Both in-person and online options are available. While online students will have access to the recordings, the Institute encourages personal attendance and participation for students within a reasonable driving distance.
Additionally, the Emmaus faculty will be hosting a weekend retreat titled "Praying with Scripture; Encountering the Word" from February 23 to 25. The retreat will be held at Our Lady of Good Counsel Retreat House in Waverly. Further details and registration information can be found on the Good Counsel Retreat website at www.goodcounselretreat.org.
As the Emmaus Institute continues to provide valuable opportunities for biblical studies and spiritual growth, these upcoming classes and retreat are sure to enrich the minds and hearts of all participants.
