A new movement formed from the Unite Our Nation events that have taken place nationwide will focus on a day of prayer Nov. 3, Election Day, to inspire people to turn back to God and bring hope for the country's problems.
The new movement, called Adoration for Our Nation, was co-founded by Joe Dentice, who told the American Catholic Tribune he initially became involved with Unite Our Nation when he was part of the Men of Christ team that helped promote events in Madison and Kenosha, Wisconsin.
"Prayer is the only way to solve our nation’s problems," Dentice said. "We’ve turned away from God and we will not fix this country until we turn back to Him."
He said he was inspired to launch Adoration for Our Nation after discussing the idea with members of his men's group.
"Our men’s group was discussing how powerful Unite Our Nation has been, how it gives us hope that things can change," Dentice said. "The suggestion to take this further on Election Day with adoration was made. We immediately realized the Holy Spirit was leading this and reached out to the Unite Our Nation team."
With Election Day two weeks away, the movement already has 100 churches signed up to have Adoration for Our Nation events in their parishes, according to its website.
"Let’s unite our country in prayer on Election Day," the website states. "Across the nation people are anxious, neighbors against neighbors, with polarizing statements all over social media and the airwaves. We hear the cry, 'What can we do?' As a people of faith, we turned to God, and were inspired to ask Catholic churches to open wide their doors to Christ by offering adoration on Election Day."
Churches that already have signed up for Adoration for Our Nation include those in California, Nevada, New York, New Jersey, Texas, Tennessee, Wyoming, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Ohio and Florida. A list of churches in big cities to small towns that have signed up can be found on its website.
Unite Our Nation has had hundreds of gatherings across the country which featured a prayerful, non-political gathering to bring healing through prayer.
"The local Unite Our Nation events are so powerful, and the nationwide Adoration For Our Nation will amplify and focus that power, storming the gates of Heaven on Election Day," Dentice said.
How can Catholics around the country get involved?
"Make sure your parish joins the rest of the country with Adoration on Election Day," Dentice said. "The Unite Our Nation team has made it easy to plan, promote and register your parish’s adoration. Go to uniteournation.net and hit the Adore November 3 tab for everything you need."
