In the best interest of the ill and elderly in the congregation, Catholics in the Diocese of Las Vegas have a dispensation from the obligation to attend Mass through Sept. 27. | Facebook
Rev. George L. Thomas, Bishop of the Diocese of Las Vegas, has extended the dispensation from the obligation of attending Mass to those in the Diocese up to and including Sunday, Sept. 27.
Reopening of public Masses has returned and parishioners are free to attend if they feel comfortable, but to account for the "gravity of the present moment and the restrictions being placed on us during the civil reopening plan," Thomas is extending this grace to the Catholic faithful of the Diocese of Las Vegas and those visiting in the boundaries of the Diocese.
"While we recognize that many are eager to return to Mass in our churches, it remains important for those who are elderly and otherwise at risk to refrain from returning to public Liturgies until it is manifestly safe to do so," Thomas said according to Holy Spirit Catholic Church's Ignite. "For all the faithful, especially those who are sick, at high risk of becoming sick, and their caregivers, the obligation to attend Sunday Mass is hereby dispensed."
