Senate Democrats voted against the Health Care Freedom for Patients Act on Thursday, a decision that resulted in the loss of billions of dollars in healthcare funding intended for American families. The vote followed party lines and was influenced by concerns related to transgender rights.
Terry Schilling, President of the American Principles Project, responded to the outcome with criticism. "Democrats robbed Peter and his family to pay RuPaul. Liberals have sacrificed billions of dollars in vital pro-family health care funding to ensure that taxpayers pay for children’s sex changes. Democrats have made their priorities clear. Voters should do the same in 2026," Schilling said.
The bill's defeat highlights ongoing debates over healthcare policy and funding priorities within Congress.
