Reverend John Robert Jack died on October 28, 2025, in Norwood, Ohio. He was born on January 24, 1965, in Middletown and baptized at St. John the Baptist Parish in his hometown. Father Jack earned a Bachelor of Arts from the Pontifical College Josephinum in Columbus, a Master of Divinity from Mount St. Mary’s Seminary of the West in Cincinnati, and a Licentiate in Sacred Theology from the Marian Institute at the University of Dayton. He was ordained as a priest on June 6, 1992, at St. Peter in Chains Cathedral by Archbishop Daniel E. Pilarczyk.

Father Jack began his ministry as associate pastor at Our Lady of Lourdes Parish in Cincinnati starting July 1, 1992. On July 1, 1994, he became Catholic chaplain (part-time) at Jewish Hospital and parochial vicar (part-time) at Assumption Parish in Mt. Healthy later that month. In July 1997 he took up residence as associate at St. John the Evangelist Parish while continuing hospital chaplaincy duties.

He joined the faculty of Athenaeum of Ohio/Mount St. Mary’s Seminary of the West on July 1, 1999. From July 2015 through June 2016 he assisted on weekends and holydays at both St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish and St. Andrew Parish while remaining with Mount St. Mary’s Seminary faculty.

On August 25, 2015 Father Jack was appointed Censor of Books for the Archdiocese of Cincinnati.

From July 1, 2018 he served weekday ministry at Sacred Heart Radio in Norwood and as parochial vicar for several parishes: St. Ann (Williamsburg), Holy Trinity (Batavia), St. Louis (Owensville), and St. Philomena (Stonelick). A year later he began weekend assistance at St. Bernard Parish (Taylor Creek) and resided at St. Ignatius of Loyola Parish while continuing work with Sacred Heart Radio.

On February 3, 2023 Father Jack became chaplain to the Legion of Mary – Cincinnati Regional Senatus.

The Reception of the Body will be held Monday November 3 at Cathedral Basilica of St. Peter in Chains beginning at 6:00 p.m., led by Reverend David A Sunberg who will also deliver the homily during visitation until 8:00 p.m.

The Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for Tuesday November 4 at Cathedral Basilica with Most Reverend Dennis M Schnurr presiding; Reverend Bernard J Weldishofer will give the homily.

Committal will follow immediately after Mass on November 4th at Woodside Cemetery in Middletown with Reverend Bernard J Weldishofer officiating.
