Reverend Joseph E. Kurtz, D.D. Bishop | Archdiocese of Louisville
Hundreds of worshippers gathered at St. Albert the Great Church on October 1 to mark the feast day of St. Thérèse of Lisieux. The event concluded a nine-day novena for healing that began on September 22 and drew participation from people across the Archdiocese of Louisville.
Throughout the novena, a Mass was celebrated each evening with a different intention for healing. Congregants placed their prayers and petitions at the foot of a statue representing St. Thérèse of Lisieux, surrounded by roses.
The final Mass attracted more than 500 attendees. In addition to daily liturgies, participants had opportunities for confession, joined in a eucharistic procession, contributed to special collections, and received personal blessings with a relic associated with the saint.
