St. Patrick Church will hold a “Sacred Heart Holy Hour” on October 16 at 6:30 p.m., featuring adoration, the Divine Mercy Chaplet, and prayers to the Sacred Heart. The event is open to all.
The Cathedral of the Assumption will be the site of a Young Adult Mass and Community Networking Fair on October 8 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. The event is organized by the Young Catholic Professionals Louisville Chapter and the Archdiocese of Louisville’s Office of Youth and Young Adults. St. Teresa of Calcutta Church plans its 17th anniversary Mass on October 19 at 9:30 a.m., inviting former parishioners from St. Mary and St. Jerome churches, which merged to form St. Teresa of Calcutta.
The Marian Committee has scheduled a First Saturday Devotion for October 4 at St. Ignatius Martyr Church, starting with Mass at 9 a.m., followed by devotion, reconciliation, adoration, Gospel reading, homily, and sacred music.
The Archdiocese of Louisville Catholic Charismatic Renewal will host a “prayer and praise gathering” on October 12 at St. Bernard Church at 3 p.m.
On October 5, the Marian Committee will also present the Archdiocese’s annual Living Rosary for children in grades one through twelve at St. Michael Church.
Epiphany Church offers a men’s retreat titled “Holy Disruption: Turning the World Upside Down” on October 11 from 8:30 a.m. to 2:15 p.m., led by Deacon Lucio Caruso for $30 per person.
Other recurring events include monthly meetings for Secular Franciscans’ St. Joseph Fraternity at St. Stephen Martyr Church; gatherings for single adults over age fifty hosted by Catholic Single Adults Club; game nights organized by Catholic Singles of Louisville; grief support groups such as GRASP meeting at Holy Trinity Church; Parents of Addicted Loved Ones (PAL) sessions weekly at St. John Paul II Church; and additional grief or caregiver support groups across various parishes.
Volunteer opportunities are available through Catholic Charities’ long-term care program supporting residents in area facilities or serving as volunteer ombudsmen after training requirements are met.
A range of parish events this month includes blood drives, health fairs requiring pre-registration for vaccines or wellness classes, paper shredding events supporting local charities, card parties benefiting animal rescue organizations, turkey suppers in Fredericktown, appreciation dinners for Xaverian Brothers alumni hosted by Flaget Alumni Association, anniversary celebrations for religious ordinations such as that of Passionist Father Christopher Gibson at St. Agnes Church, family history days partnered with Marion County organizations at Loretto Heritage Center, educational Bible studies via Zoom or in-person settings across several churches including programs from Bellarmine University’s Veritas Society focusing on immigration policy issues affecting local families.
Nazareth Retreat Center is also offering an introduction course to Christian meditation through early November.
