St. Vincent de Paul has started a new effort called “Stock the Shelves” to help keep its pantry supplied with items that are in high demand each month, according to an announcement.
For September, the organization is asking for canned goods such as tuna and salmon packed in water, low sodium chicken or turkey, pork and beans, and small or medium containers of peanut butter. In October, the focus will shift to cooking basics like flour, sugar, baking powder and baking soda, cooking oil, salt and pepper, broth or bouillon cubes, garlic powder, minced onions and oregano.
The agency says it also needs canned fruits and vegetables throughout the year. Personal care products including feminine hygiene items are ongoing needs as well.
Donations can be dropped off at 415 E. St. Catherine St. on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9 a.m. to noon. People may also purchase needed supplies through Amazon or other retailers for direct shipment to St. Vincent de Paul. For more information about making online donations, contact Nicola Peck at npeck@svdplou.org.
