Franciscan University of Steubenville is preparing to host its annual Homecoming Weekend from September 26 to 28, 2025. The event will begin on Friday with guided tours of the newly renovated Christ the King Chapel led by Franciscan friars. A Household Life Mass is scheduled for that afternoon in Finnegan Fieldhouse, followed by an Alumni Awards Banquet and a Student Talent Show.
On Saturday, activities will start with the Kelly Roggensack Memorial Races at Assisi Heights. Later in the morning, a Homecoming Mass and Nuptial Vow Blessing will take place in Finnegan Fieldhouse. The St. Francis Festival will run midday at several campus locations, offering food, vendors, inflatables for children (with socks required), and Kid’s Kingdom Crafts & Games. A play about St. Francis of Assisi is also planned for Saturday afternoon.
A Blessing of the Animals ceremony will be held outside Portiuncula Chapel on Saturday afternoon; attendees are invited to bring pets or other animals on leashes or in carriers.
Alumni whose graduation years end in 0 or 5 are invited to a special reunion event on Saturday at the Pope St. Paul VI Event Center.
The weekend’s sporting events include rugby and women’s volleyball games on Saturday afternoon, as well as alumni matches for women’s lacrosse on Saturday and men’s lacrosse on Sunday. An alumni beer garden will be open during part of Saturday afternoon near the rugby field.
Saturday evening features a Festival of Praise with eucharistic adoration in Finnegan Fieldhouse. On Sunday, two Masses with a Parents Blessing are scheduled in Finnegan Fieldhouse.
