Louisville parishes announce upcoming devotions, retreats, support groups

The Marian Committee is organizing a First Saturday Devotion on September 6 at St. Ignatius Martyr Church, beginning with Mass at 9 a.m., followed by devotion and reconciliation. The event will include adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, a Gospel reading, homily, and sacred music.

On September 8, the Ursuline Sisters of Louisville are offering Taizé prayer at 7 p.m. in the Motherhouse Chapel on Lexington Road. For more information, interested individuals can contact the Ursuline Sisters directly.

The St. Serra Club of Louisville plans to hold a Holy Hour for Vocations on September 10 at 12:30 p.m. in the chapel behind the altar at St. Margaret Mary Church. The club continues its efforts to promote religious vocations within the community.

A Young Adult Mass and Community Networking Fair is scheduled for October 8 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Cathedral of the Assumption downtown. Organized by the Young Catholic Professionals Louisville Chapter and the Office of Youth and Young Adults, this free event welcomes all young adults and includes food and drinks following Mass.

The St. Serra Club is also sponsoring a retreat titled “Bringing Back Fallen Away Catholics” on September 6 from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., featuring speaker Gary Montgomery at St. John Paul II Community Center. Registration is required by September 3; attendees may offer donations at the door.

Called to Create will host an artist retreat called “Treasures in Clay” from September 12-14 at Our Lady of the Holy Spirit Center in Cincinnati, Ohio, inviting artists across mediums regardless of sculpting experience.

The Young Catholic Professionals Louisville Chapter will present an executive panel discussion called “Meet the YCP Louisville Board” on September 16 at West Jefferson Street, providing networking opportunities along with complimentary refreshments.

St. John Paul II Church hosts monthly meetings for young adults through its Dead Theologians Society prayer group every first Wednesday evening in its school cafeteria.

Catholic Singles of Louisville continues regular gatherings for those aged forty and above with monthly prayer services and social events such as dances or trivia nights.

The Catholic Single Adults Club has planned an outing for mini-golf followed by dinner on September 14.

Benedictine Monks of St. Meinrad Archabbey invite single Catholic men ages twenty to forty interested in monastic life to attend a discernment weekend from October 10-12 where participants can join community activities and learn about monastic vocations.

Support groups addressing grief are available throughout Louisville: Walking Through Grief meets weekly both online and in person at St. Margaret Mary Church; Ups & Downs offers support for those facing loss or depression monthly; GRASP (Grief Recovery After a Substance Passing) convenes every second Monday each month for those affected by addiction-related loss; Nourish for Caregivers provides resources for caregivers monthly via Zoom or onsite sessions focused on organization skills.

St. Francis Xavier Church Women’s Club will host bunco games including food and drinks on September 11 in Mount Washington, Kentucky.

Loretto Motherhouse in Nerinx will hold two free public concerts during September as part of their ongoing community outreach initiatives.

Flaget Alumni Association’s next meeting takes place noon on September 10 featuring University of Louisville athletics director Josh Heird as guest speaker with lunch provided for $10 per attendee.

The Archdiocese of Louisville Ministry Institute offers “Stewardship & Laudato Si’ ” class on September 16 focusing on stewardship principles inspired by Pope Francis’ encyclical Laudato Si’. The session requires pre-registration due to limited space.

St. Meinrad Seminary will conduct an “Introduction to Theological Reflection” workshop October 9-10 aimed at volunteers or professionals involved in ministry roles.

Finally, St. Bernadette Church’s Adult Christian Enrichment Program presents “Be Amazed: Path to God,” a six-session series led by Deacon Pat Harris offered weekly via Zoom beginning early September.
