The Walsh University Cavaliers men's rugby team will play their first home game of the season against the University of Notre Dame Fighting Irish on Friday, September 5, at Larry Staudt Field in North Canton. The match is scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m.

This game marks Walsh’s debut home match as a founding member of the Atlantic Coast Rugby Conference (ACRC), which is recognized as one of the most competitive collegiate rugby conferences in the country. The ACRC features teams that have previously won national championships or reached finals.

Vice President for Athletics and Athletic Director Christina Paone said, “This is a special moment for Walsh Rugby. Hosting Notre Dame at home as we enter the ACRC signals the exciting direction of our program. We’re looking forward to seeing the stands filled with fans, families, and community members as we open the season.”

Rugby has been growing quickly at Walsh University, with both players and coaches bringing significant experience to the program. The upcoming game against Notre Dame is expected to draw local interest and support from fans, families, and community members. Gates will open at 6:00 p.m., an hour before kickoff.

Following this men’s match, Walsh University’s women’s rugby team will also host their home opener on Saturday, September 6, at 1:00 p.m.
