Archbishop Timothy P. Broglio, president of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, issued a statement to mark the 80th anniversary of the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. In his message, he called for renewed dedication to achieving lasting peace and eliminating nuclear weapons.
“We must renew our efforts to work for the conversion of heart required for a global commitment to lasting peace, and thus the elimination of nuclear weapons,” said Archbishop Broglio.
He emphasized that prayer and continued action are necessary steps toward universal nuclear disarmament and building a peaceful world.
