Bishop Jorge Rodríguez | Archdiocese of Denver
Redevelopment has begun on the historic Mullen Home site in Denver’s West Highlands neighborhood, aiming to transform it into a modern senior living community called Mullen Residences. The project will provide independent living apartments, assisted living, memory care, brownstone homes, and a town center. Plans include preserving the iconic “Old Main” building, which houses the chapel and other historic elements, while adding amenities such as a wellness center and a theater.
The property at 3629 W. 29th Avenue was previously operated by the Little Sisters of the Poor for over 100 years before closing in 2022. Afterward, the Archdiocese of Denver leased it temporarily to the City of Denver for use as a migrant housing shelter during its evaluation of long-term plans for the site.
Archdiocesan leadership expressed support for the redevelopment initiative. “The Archdiocese of Denver is delighted to be able to offer such an extraordinary senior living option in the West Highlands,” said the Most Reverend Samuel J. Aquila. “We are proud to collaborate with Christian Living Communities and Senior Housing Partners in this important redevelopment effort.”
Construction is scheduled to begin in early 2027.
