Two graduates from Santa Fe Catholic High School, Violet Hammen and David “D.J.” Flores, have shared how their families' faith has shaped their lives. Both students have been influenced by their upbringing and experiences at the school.

Violet Hammen grew up in a devout family environment, which she says helped her develop a strong connection to her faith. "When we’re together as a family my mom will want to say a rosary," she said. Her involvement as a peer minister allowed her to plan retreats and service projects, which she found rewarding. She credits her family's example for shaping her into who she is today.

Hammen plans to attend Florida State University to study psychology, living with others active in the Catholic Student Union. "It’s an answer to prayer," she stated.

David “D.J.” Flores appreciated the close-knit community at Santa Fe Catholic High School. He found participating in religious activities at school helped him grow spiritually. "Having access to prayer before class, the religion classes, Mass on Tuesdays really helped me grow in my faith," he explained.

Flores serves as an altar server and values his role in connecting with others through his faith. "I love teaching the new kids... It helps me connect with other people too because I can be an example of Christ," he noted.

He credits his parents for instilling strong religious values and is particularly inspired by his mother’s role as a catechist. Flores feels deeply connected to Christ through the Eucharist, describing it as life-changing.

Though some have suggested he might pursue priesthood, Flores is focused on his baseball scholarship at Southeastern University where he intends to study finance. He remains open to what lies ahead: "It’s something I’m praying on."
