Archbishop Robert G. Casey issued a statement to the parishioners of St. John the Baptist Church in Maria Stein, Ohio, following a fire that caused significant damage to the church.

"Dear parishioners of St. John the Baptist," began Archbishop Casey's message, "I was deeply saddened to hear of the fire this afternoon at our beloved St. John the Baptist Church in Maria Stein." He expressed confidence in the community's resilience despite the extent of the damage.

The archbishop assured those affected that they are in his prayers during this challenging time. "Please know that I am holding each of you in prayer during this time of sorrow and loss," he stated, promising continued spiritual support.

Archbishop Casey concluded his message with words of hope: "May Christ, our light in every darkness, bring each of you comfort, strength and peace."
