Bishop John Noonan | Diocese of Orland website
Grace and peace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with you this Easter season. The Bishop reflects on the journey of those who followed Jesus, highlighting their commitment despite persecution and the spreading of the Gospel from a small group of witnesses. He invites reflection on personal faith heritage and encourages sharing the word of God through living faithfully.
Pope Francis, in his Easter homily, emphasizes the importance of persistently seeking Jesus: “He is present everywhere; He dwells among us; He hides Himself and reveals Himself even today in the sisters and brothers we meet along the way.” This Jubilee Year of hope encourages believers to carry others with them on their spiritual journey and renew their hope in the future.
The Bishop refers to Jesus’ question to Peter, “Do you love Me?” urging a similar reflection and commitment. He calls for readiness to love and follow Jesus wholeheartedly, centering one's life in God's love. In May, prayers are offered for First Communicants, graduates, and teachers for their roles in spreading God's message.
The month also marks an honoring of Mary, described as a "sign of sure hope and solace." The Bishop praises her unwavering faith and calls her a participant in salvation history.
