The Emmaus Institute for Biblical Studies in Lincoln has embarked on a new venture by integrating pilgrimages into their 2025-2028 Strategic Plan. This initiative aims to transform participants through Scripture, as explained by Joshua Burks: “While the Scripture always remains the same, the setting of pilgrimage cultivates a rich receptivity in the heart and soul of each traveler to hear Jesus speak in new and deeper ways.”

An upcoming Jubilee Year pilgrimage to Rome and Assisi, Italy, set to be led by Burks along with Father Cole Kennett and Jeff Runyan of Encounter Travel, highlights this new direction. This pilgrimage is opening opportunities for further endeavors, including a 2026 pilgrimage in collaboration with ACTS XXIX and Corporate Travel, titled "Footsteps of St. Paul."

Among the leaders of this journey, Father John Riccardo, founder of ACTS XXIX, and Bishop James Conley of the Diocese of Lincoln will join. The itinerary will follow Apostle Paul's route, visiting early Christian communities, including Athens, Philippi, and Thessaloniki. Burks commented on the spiritual impact, stating, “It is one thing to take in these breathtaking and foreign sights on a human plain, but to be able to break through time, so to speak, and allow the message of St. Paul to echo through to our ears today in the places he first preached it will be invaluable.”

The pilgrimage offers discussions by scholars and theologians such as Father John Riccardo, Dr. Vern Steiner, and Burks. A highlight for Bishop Conley is revisiting Ephesus to explore sites like the house of St. John and Mary with pilgrims. More details are available at www.emmausinstitute.net/pilgrimages.

Until May 17, a raffle is available, offering a chance to win a spot on this pilgrimage. The winner will receive a Balcony Room package, valued at over $6,999, with a discounted rate option for a spouse or plus-one. Entry details can be found on the Emmaus Institute's website.

Raffle tickets can be purchased using a QR code via the website or by contacting the Institute at (402) 327-1671. Proceeds will support the Hearts Aflame 2025 campaign.
