Gov. Kelly Armstrong signed the North Dakota Medical Education (Med Ed) bill, aimed at safeguarding pregnant women from abortion-related misinformation. This bill, sponsored by members of the Susan B. Anthony National Pro-Life Women’s Caucus, Rep. Karen Rohr and Sen. Janne Myrdal, seeks to ensure that medical professionals are properly informed regarding the provision of emergency care within the constraints of North Dakota's pro-life legislation. The bill, known as HB 1511, mandates that obstetricians and gynecologists review educational materials concerning the medical and legal aspects of abortions in the state.

North Dakota is one of the pioneering states to implement this type of educational initiative. Previously, South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem set the precedent with similar legislation in 2024. More recently, Kentucky passed a law aimed at clarifying the provision of necessary medical care under its pro-life statute. Texas and Florida have also taken steps in this direction through administrative measures.

Sue Liebel, state affairs director for SBA Pro-Life America, commended North Dakota's efforts. The state's pro-life law is one of 22 in the United States protecting life at or before 12 weeks of pregnancy, though it is not currently in effect due to ongoing litigation.

Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America is a network composed of more than a million pro-life advocates. This organization focuses on ending abortion by supporting pro-life leaders and advocating for life-saving legislation, with an emphasis on championing pro-life female leaders.
