Reverend Joseph E. Kurtz, D.D. Bishop | Archdiocese of Louisville
The Archdiocese of Louisville has announced a collection to support the Black and Indian Mission, scheduled for March 8-9. The funds raised will aid the pastoral needs of African American, Native American, and Alaskan Native communities across the United States.
Archbishop Shelton J. Fabre emphasized Pope Francis's call to "share the love, faith, and hope of Jesus Christ with others," describing the collection as an embodiment of this mission. He noted that donations help maintain a missionary presence in these communities and support various programs and projects that further the Gospel's work.
Contributions will fund missionaries in missions, parishes, schools, religious education programs, and diocesan initiatives. In particular, it supports programs like the Black Apostolate in Louisville. Donations will also provide Bibles and catechetical materials to priests, consecrated individuals, lay leaders, and facilitate training for catechists, permanent deacons, and seminarians.
Archbishop Fabre expressed gratitude to those considering donating to this cause of faith and hope. More information is available at www.blackandindianmission.org.
Sincerely,
Most Reverend Shelton J. Fabre Archbishop of Louisville
