My Sisters and Brothers in Christ:

The Jubilee Year has been marked by the Holy Father as a time for reflection on our Baptism, described as crossing the threshold between heaven and earth. This spiritual journey begins with an encounter with Christ, who is considered the "door" that unites believers with the Father through the Holy Spirit.

The mission of Jesus is echoed in Scripture from Isaiah, encouraging individuals to embrace their roles as prophets and share God's Word. The challenge of reaching those who may not listen is acknowledged, yet strength is found through faith. The Holy Father views this year as a "season of grace," aiming for it to be abundant in truth, forgiveness, freedom, justice, and peace. He expresses hope that each person can foster hope around them.

In St. Luke's writings, Jesus invites His apostles to become 'fishers of men.' While this call often resonates with those pursuing Holy Orders, it extends to all baptized individuals who are invited to follow Him and bring others into His fold. The emphasis is on forming a relationship with God through acts of mercy, closeness, and compassion.

Jesus serves as a model for living these virtues. Believers are encouraged to reflect God's light onto others' despair by offering help or comfort when needed. Daily interactions provide opportunities for people to experience God through acts of kindness inspired by receiving Jesus in the Eucharist.

Love is identified as humanity's fundamental vocation; married couples are particularly reminded of this divine love during celebrations such as Mass for Marriage at St. James Cathedral in Orlando on February 8th.

The reassurance from Jesus not to fear underscores His everlasting presence among believers despite uncertainties voiced by figures like Peter. Encouragement comes from divine mercy rather than celestial majesty; God remains present within human lives today.

May we continue our journey inspired by Jesus' example as 'fishers of men.'
