Archbishop Nelson J. Pérez | Archdiocese of Philedelphia
The Archdiocese of Philadelphia has introduced a new ministry focused on mental health awareness, led by the Office for Persons with Disabilities. This initiative is a collaboration between various offices within the Archdiocese, Catholic Social Services, local clergy, and consecrated religious.
Starting in February to align with the Church’s annual World Day of the Sick, the Archdiocese will disseminate a monthly “mental health minute” banner through its newsletters and platforms. The purpose of this initiative is to raise awareness about mental health issues and combat the stigma associated with mental illness. It seeks to provide factual information through a lens shaped by Catholic teachings, promoting understanding and support within the faith community.
Each banner will direct individuals to the Archdiocesan website for Catholic Mental Health Support. Here, parishes or individuals can access resources and stay informed about ongoing mental health initiatives across the Church in Philadelphia.
