Mary’s Hope, a pregnancy and family resource center at Immaculate Conception Church in La Grange, Kentucky, has been offering support to women since its opening in November. The center aims to assist young families in need within the community and the Oldham County parish.
Father Christopher Rhodes, pastor of Immaculate Conception Church, emphasized the center's mission: “Our hope is to be of resource to young families in need of assistance. That’s our ultimate goal.”
The facility provides various services including pregnancy tests, parenting classes, and resources for women facing unplanned pregnancies. Susan Bisig, a parishioner leading efforts at Mary’s Hope, mentioned that they offer items such as diapers, baby clothing, car seats, and portable cribs for mothers who complete a series of four parenting classes.
To date, 16 women have been trained to accompany clients at the center. Little Way Pregnancy Resource Center in Old Louisville played a significant role in helping Mary’s Hope prepare for its launch by allowing volunteers from Mary’s Hope to shadow their own volunteers. Some classes at Mary’s Hope are modeled after those offered at Little Way.
Bisig also noted that the center aims to educate all women on various options available during pregnancy, including understanding the implications of abortion.
Mary’s Hope operates from Saturday through Wednesday between 9 a.m. and 12 p.m., serving women from La Grange and surrounding areas.
