Reverend Joseph E. Kurtz, D.D. Bishop | Archdiocese of Louisville
Over 125 participants, volunteers, family, and friends of the Archdiocese of Louisville's Faith Clubs gathered for their annual Christmas celebration on December 4 at the Flaget Center. The Faith Clubs provide faith formation for adults with developmental or learning disabilities and meet monthly. The clubs hosted by Ascension Church, St. Francis of Assisi Church, Our Lady of Lourdes Church, and the Flaget Retreat Center unite each year for this event.
This year's celebration featured a catered dinner, a reenactment and narration of the Christmas story by Faith Club members, carol singing, and gift exchanges. Joey Carr, a participant known for his generosity, highlighted the evening with his hand-wrapped gifts to each member and volunteer. Over the years, Carr has given items such as hand-sewn decorations and baked goods.
Carr shared that he enjoys gift-giving and has been doing so for about 20 years. This year he said, "The guys get cookies. The girls get socks and nail polish. The adults get pumpkin bread." Kristen Donovan noted that Carr's giving spirit likely came from his mother, Anita Carr, who was known for her holiday joy.
