Revered Carl A. Kemme, D.D. Bishop | Diocese of Witchita
The One Family, Fully Alive in Christ! Campaign is gaining momentum as 32 Wave Two Parishes prepare to launch their fundraising efforts. This initiative aims to strengthen and unify the Catholic community by raising funds for various projects. Parish leaders have collaborated with the campaign team to recruit volunteers, prepare materials, and disseminate information.
Following successful fundraising during last fall's "silent phase" and in 19 Wave One Parishes earlier this year, the campaign has already raised over $22 million towards its $50 million goal.
Fr. Bernie Gorges of St. Joseph, Ost expressed enthusiasm about the campaign: “The bold response we have seen so far in support of this campaign shows that the Church is ALIVE in every parish throughout our entire diocese.” He added that his parish is eager to contribute to building a strong foundation for the church's future.
Active fundraising will continue through the end of the year, with each registered household receiving an appeal packet containing a letter from Bishop Carl A. Kemme and details on how to contribute.
Mike Wescott, director of the Office of Development and Planned Giving, praised those involved: “We are so grateful for the strong leadership of our pastors and parish volunteers who have stepped up to help." He also noted that beyond raising funds, "this campaign is bringing people together around a shared vision and mission.”
The campaign focuses on several priorities:
- Enhancing Catholic school teacher salaries with $15 million allocated for new school-based endowments.
- Restoring cathedral domes and windows at a cost of $12 million.
- Meeting individual parish needs with $10 million earmarked for local projects.
- Developing Camp Kapaun with an $8 million investment.
- Establishing an In Love of God and Neighbor Fund with $5 million for outreach initiatives.
Wave Two Parishes participating include Church of the Holy Spirit in Goddard, Holy Family in Marion, St. Joseph in Wichita among others.
