Louisville churches announce upcoming events including mass celebrations and support groups

A series of events and gatherings are scheduled in Louisville, catering to various interests and communities. On October 20, a Special Disciples of Jesus Mass will be held at St. Margaret Mary Church for special needs families and friends. The event coincides with the parish's feast day celebrations, featuring a potluck at 1 p.m. For more details, Tara Mattingly can be contacted.

The Ursuline Sisters of Louisville invite attendees to a Taizé prayer session on October 14 at the Ursuline Motherhouse Chapel. Meanwhile, St. Edward Church will conduct a eucharistic procession in its neighborhood on October 20.

Archbishop Shelton J. Fabre is set to celebrate a Mass of Thanksgiving for couples celebrating milestone anniversaries on November 3 at the Cathedral of the Assumption. Pre-registration is required by October 21 through local parish offices.

St. Margaret Mary Church will also host a Divine Mercy mission from October 21-23, led by author Vinny Flynn. This includes talks, healing services, confessions, music, and book signings.

A Holy Spirit retreat organized by the Catholic Charismatic Renewal will take place on October 19 at St. Raphael Church. Lynn McDaniel can provide further information regarding registration.

On October 20, the Benedictine Oblates' Louisville Chapter will meet at St. John Paul II Church with Father Casey Sanders speaking on Marian devotion.

The St. Serra Club of Louisville's next luncheon meeting is scheduled for October 21 with Father Anthony Chandler as the speaker.

Several support groups continue their regular meetings across different churches: NAMI family support group meets monthly at St. Albert the Great Church; Hope and Healing Grief Group gathers there as well; DivorceCare sessions are ongoing at Our Lady of Lourdes Church; Parents of Addicted Loved Ones (PAL) meets weekly at St. John Paul II Church; GRASP holds monthly meetings at Holy Trinity Church.

Young adults are invited to "Pax Night" hosted by St. Margaret Mary’s Young Adult Ministry on October 16.

Other community events include a chicken dinner hosted by St. Martin’s Brotherhood on October 12 and an all-you-can-eat chicken dinner every second Sunday at St. Luke Church.

Holy Name Church offers parking during University of Louisville football games as part of its fundraising efforts.

Father Joe Rankin leads Bible study sessions reflecting on upcoming Sunday readings at St. Rita Church starting soon.

The Archdiocese of Louisville Ministry Institute presents "Overview of Catechetical Ministry Part II" later this month requiring pre-registration through Lynn McDaniel.

St Bernadette's Adult Christian Enrichment Program continues offering classes weekly while Nazareth Home plans a Medicare open enrollment presentation on October 23 for seniors seeking guidance during this period.
