Reverend Joseph E. Kurtz, D.D. Bishop | Archdiocese of Louisville
Hundreds of Catholics gathered at St. Michael Church in Jeffersontown on October 6 for the 73rd annual Living Rosary event. The ceremony was led by children from first through twelfth grades from across the Archdiocese of Louisville.
The young participants, dressed in blue capelets, represented each bead in the five decades of the rosary, while those in red capelets symbolized the glorious mysteries, traditionally prayed on Sundays and Wednesdays. The prayers were primarily conducted in English; however, Hispanic and Latino children recited the Hail Mary in Spanish.
Archbishop Shelton J. Fabre presided over the event and blessed various objects brought by attendees. He emphasized to those present that it is through "the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary that 'we know the love of Jesus.'"
The Living Rosary is organized annually by the Archdiocese of Louisville’s Marian Committee.
