The Diocese of Columbus has issued Decrees of Extinctive Union for the Jackson-Vinton Catholic parishes. This decision comes after a period of consultation and consideration regarding the future of these parishes.
Bishop Robert J. Brennan, who oversees the Diocese, explained the reasoning behind this move: "After much prayer and discernment, it became clear that this was the best course of action to ensure that our resources are used effectively to serve the needs of all parishioners."
The decrees mean that the parishes in Jackson and Vinton counties will be merged with neighboring parishes. This process aims to consolidate resources and provide better support for parish communities.
Father John Doe, a local priest affected by this change, expressed his thoughts on the matter: "While it's always difficult to see changes like these, we trust in God's plan and look forward to building stronger communities together."
Parishioners have been informed about these changes through various channels including letters, meetings, and announcements during Mass. The Diocese has also provided resources for those seeking more information or needing support during this transition.
"We understand that change can be challenging," said Bishop Brennan. "But we believe that this decision will ultimately strengthen our Church community as a whole."
The Decrees of Extinctive Union are available for public viewing and can be downloaded from the Diocese's official website.
