Our Lady of Good Counsel Retreat House will host two one-day retreats in October: one for moms and one for dads.
Father Jay Buhman will present “Holiness for Moms of Young People: Day of Reflection for Moms” on Saturday, Oct. 5. Deacon Matthew Hecker and Jeremy Ekeler will present “Faith of our Fathers: Day of Reflection for Men” on Sunday, Oct. 6.
Both retreats will be held from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., welcoming parents of all ages.
In Father Buhman’s day of reflection for moms, he will address questions like, “what am I doing with my life?” or “what is my identity now?” and, “how can I pray even in the midst of these crazy years?”
The one-day retreat will include lunch and snacks. There will be time for Mass, confessions, silent prayer time, rest, and community. The father’s day of reflection will include Sunday Mass, lunch and snacks. Hecker and Ekeler will discuss the Fathers of the Church who were leaders in the early Catholic Church and were responsible for explaining, defending, and developing Catholic doctrines.
Other upcoming events at Our Lady of Good Counsel include: the livestream “Christ Our Life” conference Watch Party Sept. 27-29; Ablaze worship with Encounter Ministries Oct. 6 from 5 to 7 p.m., on the front lawn of the retreat house; “Recognizing the Devil’s Tactics” retreat with Father Jeremy Hazuka Oct. 11-13; and “My Lord, My God, My All” retreat with Bishop Robert Finn and the Knights of the Holy Eucharist Oct. 25-27.
