In a letter addressed to the faithful, Archbishop Dennis M. Schnurr of Cincinnati has emphasized the importance of the "Love in Action" principle as part of the Catholic Church's Eucharistic Revival Year of Mission. This initiative, which represents the third and final stage of the Eucharistic Revival, seeks to remind Catholics of their mission to embody Christ for others.

Quoting Pope St. John Paul II, Archbishop Schnurr highlighted the connection between the Eucharist and acts of love: “[B]y our mutual love and, in particular, by our concern for those in need we will be recognized as true followers of Christ.” He also referenced Benedict XVI’s call for believers to be “bread broken for the life of the world,” particularly for vulnerable groups.

The archbishop noted that Love in Action encompasses parish ministries focused on charity and social justice. These efforts include respecting human life from conception to natural death, serving those in need, welcoming migrants, promoting global solidarity, and caring for creation.

He stressed that in polarized times, these ministries provide a prophetic witness on how Catholics can overcome differences to advance dignity and unity. Archbishop Schnurr remarked that “the Eucharistic Revival Year of Mission is a welcomed opportunity” to see all people as members of one human family.

Coinciding with this initiative is the universal Church’s celebration of Jubilee Year 2025 with the theme "Pilgrims of Hope." In his Bull of Indiction for the Jubilee, Pope Francis offers hope through Christian faith: “May it help us to recover the confident trust that we require.”

Archbishop Schnurr encouraged Catholic entities within the archdiocese to focus on advancing Love in Action over five months. The year will conclude with a Mass at Cathedral Basilica of St. Peter in Chains on June 1, 2025.

He expressed gratitude towards those transformed by Christ’s Body into agents of God’s love: “By doing so, you are a pilgrim of hope for the local Church and all the world.”
