Today, the House of Representatives passed a joint resolution to overturn the Biden administration’s new rule interpreting Title IX to prohibit discrimination based on 'gender identity.' The resolution, sponsored by Rep. Mary Miller (R-Ill.), was approved by a 210-205 party-line vote.

The Biden rule would require schools to allow males into girls’ bathrooms and private spaces, as well as potentially girls’ sports, and punish teachers for not using students’ preferred pronouns, among other possible effects.

In response, Terry Schilling, president of American Principles Project (APP), released the following statement applauding the bill’s passage:

“Despite his sinking poll numbers and obvious campaign issues, Joe Biden continues to double down on this insane policy to undermine women’s rights in Title IX. The last several years have shown that Americans are clearly opposed to allowing any man who claims to be a woman open access to female private spaces and sports. Yet Democrats are so beholden to the radical transgender industry that they are still pressing forward with this agenda despite its wild unpopularity.

“Thankfully, House Republicans showed once again today that they are willing to stand up for the rights of women and the reality of biology. We commend Congresswoman Miller and all the House members who supported this bill, and we encourage the GOP to keep the pressure on the Biden administration to ensure they face the political consequences for their shameful actions.”
