The 2024 Cross the Bridge for Life event is scheduled to take place on Saturday, June 1, in Newport, Kentucky. The gathering aims to celebrate human life at all stages and abilities. Participants from both sides of the Ohio River will join for a family festival and walk along the river.
Bishop John Iffert of the Diocese of Covington will participate in the event. Despite the closure of the Purple People Bridge to walkers this year, the celebration will proceed as planned. T-shirts will be distributed at 9 a.m. at Riverboat Row in Newport, while supplies last. The event will occur rain or shine, with any schedule changes posted on their Facebook page.
The festival features live music by Easter Rising, free face painting, balloon artists, water, refreshments, and pizza. At 10 a.m., a short program including prayer led by Bishop Iffert, the Pledge of Allegiance by American Heritage Girls, and the National Anthem sung by Grace and Paul Dell Aquilla will precede the walk. Anna Mitchell of Sacred Heart Radio will serve as emcee. Bagpipers from the Ancient Order of Hibernians and an American Heritage Girls color guard will lead participants along the Ohio River.
Organized by over 20 area pro-life organizations aiming to raise awareness about the value of human life, more information can be found through sponsors such as The Diocese of Covington and Archdiocese of Cincinnati.
