Five couples to celebrate significant wedding anniversaries in May 2024

Joe and Marian Ackerman, esteemed members of St. Raphael Church, are set to celebrate their golden wedding anniversary on May 24. Mrs. Ackerman, née Marian Poppe, is known for her volunteer work with local Catholic churches and charities. Mr. Ackerman, a retired CPA, joins his wife in this milestone celebration. The couple is blessed with four children and six grandchildren.

Another couple marking their 50th wedding anniversary on May 25 are Mike and Becky Dunn Denton, who are active members of St. Edward Church. Mrs. Denton retired after a commendable 35-year career in the mental health field while Mr. Denton retired from Vermont American as a tool and die maker. They have two children and three grandchildren and plan to celebrate their special day at Captain’s Quarters with family and friends.

Robert Steven and Erika Raquel DeSha will be celebrating their 10th wedding anniversary on May 24. The couple are members of both St. Martin DePorres and St. Augustine churches. Mrs. DeSha, previously known as Erika Stith, serves as the coordinator of services for the Center for Accessible Living while Mr. DeSha recently retired on May 1 after an impressive 34 years of service with TARC.

Mr. and Mrs. John Self from White Mills, Ky., who are part of the congregation at St Ignatius Church, will also be celebrating their golden wedding anniversary on May 25th. Mrs Self (formerly Linda Loudenback) retired in 2016 while Mr Self concluded his service with the Okolona Fire Department after 23 years.Their celebration will consist of a family dinner at Tony York’s.

Lastly, Mr.and Mrs.Bob Brawner from St.Patrick Church will mark their golden jubilee wedding anniversary on May 25.Mrs.Brawner (nee Carla Kuffner) enjoyed a long career at Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield, retiring after 42 years. Mr. Brawner retired after a 40-year tenure with several companies, including American Printing House for the Blind, Olympic Stain, Grindmaster and Grand Soft Equipment. The couple has two children and two grandchildren.
