DeSales High School has recently embarked on a $5 million capital campaign to enhance its educational facilities, with a particular focus on advancing its Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) curriculum. The campaign, titled "Call to Post," was officially launched on April 18, aiming to create an Innovation Center on the school's campus.

Dr. Rick Blackwell, the school president, expressed the importance of the new center, stating that it will provide essential spaces like "innovation rooms" to facilitate hands-on and project-based learning. He also highlighted the versatility of the Innovation Center, envisioning it as a hub for various academic and extracurricular activities, comparable to the school's sports complex.

Reflecting on the need for continuous improvement, Blackwell emphasized the school's commitment to meeting the evolving needs of its students. He stated, “Great schools can’t rest... We felt this (new building) met the most needs now and into the future.” The existing gaming innovation lab at DeSales, which has been well-received by students, will be expanded through the new center, offering more space for game development and coding.

The "Call to Post" campaign has already garnered significant support during its quiet phase, securing over $3.3 million in gifts and pledges, representing 66 percent of its fundraising goal. Blackwell expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support from alumni and community organizations, noting a substantial increase in first-time donors. He stated, “We’re really proud of that. We’re thrilled."

In addition to the Innovation Center, the capital campaign will enable DeSales to boost its endowment, primarily through planned giving. The school's 1956 Society Endowment has seen substantial growth since October 2022, expanding by $3.4 million.

Individuals interested in learning more about the capital campaign or contributing to this initiative are encouraged to contact Jaclyn Grieshaber, the school’s director of advancement, at 883-2438 or visit desaleshighschool.com/ctp.
