ORLANDO | Priests, deacons, and faithful from around the Diocese of Orlando gathered at the Basilica of the National Shrine of Mary, Queen of the Universe for the annual chrism Mass on March 25, 2024. During the ceremony, Bishop John Noonan blessed the holy oils used in Sacraments and other celebrations throughout the year.

The oils, carefully prepared from pure olive oil, play significant roles in various sacraments within the Catholic Church. The Catechism of the Catholic Church, 1294, highlights the symbolism behind the anointing with oil in the sacramental life, stating, "Anointing with oil has all these meanings in the sacramental life."

Deacon Dave Baker from Nativity Parish in Longwood presented the oil of the sick, Deacon Peter Pronko from Annunciation Parish in Altamonte Springs presented the oil of catechumens, and Deacon Dan Bassile from Holy Name of Jesus Parish in Indialantic presented the holy chrism during the Mass.

In addition to blessing the holy oils, the priests in attendance renewed their vows and celebrated jubilarians. This year's jubilarians included Msgr. David Page for 65 years, Msgr. William Ennis for 60 years, Father William Zamborsky for 50 years, and Redemptorist Father Aldrin Nunes for 25 years.
