Washington, D.C. – For the second consecutive year, Democrats on the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee are set to hold a hearing decrying protections for babies in the womb following the Dobbs Supreme Court decision. The hearing, titled “The Continued Assault on Reproductive Freedoms in a Post-Dobbs America,” is scheduled to take place today at 2:30 p.m. EDT.
House Pro-Life Caucus Co-Chair Rep. Michelle Fischbach (R-MN) will be participating in a panel with Rep. Tammy Duckworth (D-IL) during the hearing. The panel will be followed by a witness panel featuring experts Monique C. Wubbenhorst, M.D., MPH, FACOG, FAHA, and Professor Carter Snead from the University of Notre Dame's de Nicola Center for Ethics and Culture.
Ahead of the hearing, Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America criticized the Democrats' stance, stating, "The so-called Women’s Health Protection Act is backed by President Biden and co-sponsored by every Democrat on the Senate Judiciary Committee." The organization highlighted how the bill could lead to no-limits abortion on demand at any point in pregnancy, extending beyond the scope of Roe v. Wade.
Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America also pointed out the discrepancy between public opinion and the proposed legislation, citing that "at least seven in 10 Americans support significant limits on abortion" and that "a clear majority of Americans oppose taxpayer-funded abortion on demand domestically." The organization emphasized its commitment to monitoring the pro-abortion actions of the Biden-Harris administration through their website.
Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America, a network of over one million pro-life Americans, aims to end abortion by electing leaders and advocating for life-saving legislation, with a particular focus on promoting pro-life women leaders.
