Archbishop Shelton J. Fabre led the Stations of the Cross at Calvary Cemetery on March 15, amidst the backdrop of spring-blooming trees in pink and white. The ceremony took place on an overcast afternoon, adding a solemn atmosphere to the event.
According to the report, Catholic Cemeteries organize Stations of the Cross every Friday during Lent at 1 p.m. across its four locations in Louisville. The final service for this year is scheduled for March 22, and it will be conducted by students from Holy Trinity School at St. Michael Cemetery on Charles St.
The setting of the ceremony was described as picturesque, with plaques for each station affixed to waist-high wooden crosses placed next to headstones in the cemetery. Participants gathered in the priest section for the event, which was captured in photos by Marnie McAllister.
As the Lenten season progresses, the community continues to partake in these traditional observances, reflecting on the Stations of the Cross and their significance in the Christian faith.
