OCALA | In conjunction with the National Eucharistic Revival, Our Lady of the Springs faith formation classes came together for a Eucharistic Miracle Fair on February 25. The event featured 20 displays illustrating various Eucharistic miracles from around the world.

Faith formation coordinator Deborah Higgins expressed the intention behind the fair, stating, “We wanted a way to bring the True Presence to our students.” Higgins, along with Confirmation teacher Heathyr Lamb, encouraged the children and their families to select a miracle that held personal significance to them. The result was a collection of displays ranging from simple to elaborate, including an ornate handmade monstrance.

One attendee shared a transformative experience, stating, “I’ve been Catholic my whole life, but I don’t think I really got it.” Another participant, a child, expressed newfound understanding, saying, “Now I know why we are quiet after we receive Jesus. I’m glad Jesus is my friend.”

The event attracted the attention of Diocese of Orlando Director of Faith Formation, John Molloy, who attended to witness the displays of faith. Molloy was impressed by the presentations, remarking, “I was excited to see, hear, and learn about Eucharistic miracles throughout history, some of which I had never heard about before. The joy of the kids and their families as they shared about these miracles was contagious.”

Molloy commended the families, parish, and coordinators Higgins and Lamb for their efforts, expressing hope for the initiative to continue and expand. He stated, “I would love to see more of these projects that invite a meaningful interaction between faith formation participants and the parish community.”

The success of the Eucharistic Miracle Fair has sparked interest from other parishes, with requests to borrow the exhibit for their own communities. As the spirit of reverence for the Eucharist spreads, Molloy prays for continued growth in appreciation for the divine presence among the faithful.

The event stands as a testament to the power of faith formation initiatives in fostering a deeper understanding and connection to spiritual beliefs within the community.
