Mr. Richard Serrano was honored with the prestigious St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Award by the Diocese of Tucson Department of Catholic Schools during their yearly Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Mass and Award Dinner at Saint Augustine Cathedral. The event, which has been a tradition for over 40 years, recognizes individuals for their dedicated service, support, and leadership within the Diocese of Tucson Catholic Schools.

Sheri Dahl, the school superintendent for the Diocese of Tucson, praised Serrano's contributions, stating, "His contributions to our diocese have significantly impacted the ability of our schools and parishes to be efficient, thorough, and safe." Serrano, who began his service in the Diocese of Tucson in 2003 as the Human Resources Director, played a vital role in enhancing record-keeping processes, introducing digital HR systems, creating standardized job descriptions, and updating personnel policies.

Even after retiring in 2019, Serrano continued to support the Diocese by serving as a consultant to the HR Department and the Office of Child, Adolescent, and Adult Protection (OCAAP). Dahl highlighted Serrano's leadership in ensuring the safety of children and employees, emphasizing the importance of protecting vulnerable individuals within the community.

In addition to his contributions within the Diocese, Serrano has been an active member of the Tucson community, serving in organizations such as the Lion's Club and the Santa Cruz Parish Finance Council. His dedication to providing eye examinations and glasses for families in need, as well as his guidance on finance and personnel policy best practices, has made him a valued member of the community.

Richard Serrano's commitment to the safety, well-being, and development of children, adolescents, and vulnerable adults has earned him respect and admiration within the Diocese of Tucson and the wider community. Congratulations to Mr. Richard Serrano on receiving the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Award in recognition of his outstanding service and leadership.
