On the weekend of February 17-18, parishes across the United States will be participating in the Black and Indian Mission Collection. This annual collection aims to support the pastoral needs of African American, Native American, and Alaskan Native communities throughout the country.

The Black and Indian Mission Collection has been successful in providing assistance to these marginalized communities and helping them find hope in their challenging circumstances. The funds collected are used to support missionaries, parishes, schools, and various programs that strengthen the work of the Gospel.

Archbishop Shelton J. Fabre, the Archbishop of Louisville, encourages everyone to consider making a donation to this worthy cause. In a letter addressed to the community, he states, "Your donations provide for the presence of missionaries in African American, Native American, and Alaskan Native missions, parishes, schools, religious education programs, and in many diocesan programs and projects that strengthen the work of the Gospel."

The Archbishop emphasizes that the Black and Indian Mission Collection plays a crucial role in providing resources to priests, consecrated men and women, and lay leaders. These resources include Bibles, catechetical materials, and the necessary training for catechists, permanent deacons, and seminarians.

By supporting this collection, individuals have the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of their fellow brothers and sisters in need. The Archbishop recognizes the importance of this act of generosity and expresses his gratitude to those who choose to contribute to this cause.

For individuals who would like to learn more about the Black and Indian Mission Collection or make a donation, they can visit the official website at www.blackandindianmission.org.

As the collection approaches, Archbishop Shelton J. Fabre urges the faithful to reflect on the significance of their contributions. He concludes his letter by saying, "Thank you for considering a gift to this worthy cause. Please know that I remain sincerely in the Lord."

With the Black and Indian Mission Collection just around the corner, communities are reminded of the impact they can make by supporting this important cause. By coming together, individuals can help provide essential resources and support to those who need it most.
