St. Peter School in Lincoln, Nebraska, recently marked the blessing of a new playground aimed at children aged 2 to 5. The event, which took place on April 10, was a moment of celebration for the school community.

Principal Curt Feilmeier expressed the significance of the new addition, stating, “Although we have a great playground area, our school community desired something more appropriate for our early elementary grades.” He further explained, “This addition will serve the preschool through grade one students, as it has specific equipment geared toward ages 2 to 5.”

The project was made possible through grants and fundraising efforts led by the School Family Association (SFA). SFA President Brandon Biba thanked the students for their fundraising endeavors and highlighted the broader community benefits of the new playground. He noted that school and parish families will have the opportunity to enjoy fellowship while their children engage in play after school and Masses.

Looking ahead, Feilmeier shared plans for additional enhancements to the playground, including the incorporation of an outdoor stations of the cross as part of an outdoor classroom area. He expressed gratitude for a generous donation received for the stations and emphasized the school's commitment to creating spaces for prayer and reflection.

Feilmeier also outlined future improvements to outdoor areas such as field seeding, soccer goals, and materials for existing recreational facilities. He welcomed the prospect of securing additional grants and collaborating with various community stakeholders to realize these enhancements.

In a gesture of recognition, Spirit Catholic Radio presented St. Peter School with the 2024 Superstar Catholic School Award for the second consecutive year. Feilmeier expressed gratitude for the acknowledgment, stating, “It is fun to recognize and affirm our students. We are thankful for the opportunity to do so in this special way with Spirit Catholic Radio.”

The school's dedication to providing enriching spaces for its students and fostering a sense of community reflects its ongoing commitment to education and holistic development.
