The job prospects for the Class of 2024 look promising as the majority of employers are planning to increase or maintain their hiring levels. According to Matt Cardin, Assistant Vice President of Enrollment Management and Career Initiatives at Iona University, "the Class of 2024 is entering a favorable job market," with signs of a strong entry-level job market observed at Iona University.

The National Association of College Employers (NACE) Job Outlook 2024 Spring Update revealed that 83 percent of employers are either increasing or maintaining their hiring levels for the Class of 2024. While there is a slight decline in hiring projections compared to last year, it is important to note that this follows record-setting levels of hiring post-pandemic, indicating ample job opportunities for graduating students.

Despite concerns about the cost of education, a college degree remains a wise investment. According to the Lumina Foundation Report, individuals with degrees have higher earnings over their lifetime, increased employability, lower unemployment rates, and overall better well-being. The unemployment rate remaining at historic lows also suggests a favorable job market for the Class of 2024.

For members of the Class of 2024, preparation is key. Working with career development centers and putting effort into the job search can lead to job offers by graduation. As Cardin emphasizes, "the entry-level positions are there for them, and we are here to support them along the way."
