Adrian and Mary Ann Zaccardi, an elderly couple in Orlando, faced a series of challenges after their car broke down twice in September. The repairs put a strain on their limited income, leaving them worried about paying for essential utilities and keeping their home.
Seeking help, the Zaccardis contacted Catholic Charities of Central Florida’s Family Stability Program. The organization assisted them in applying for an Orange County Community Development Block Grant as part of its homelessness prevention program. This initiative aims to support low- to moderate-income individuals by providing case management and housing stabilization services.
“It was a smooth, rapid and efficient process,” Adrian said.
Mary Ann expressed her appreciation in a letter: “Heartfelt gratitude for our utility bill (electric) paid fully… The feeling of stress and anxiety was relieved after the bill was paid. We can breathe better, sleep better and find the enjoyment of life, at last.”
Catholic Charities is affiliated with The Diocese of Orlando, which was established in 1968.
