After a period of prayer and veneration at St. Gall/St. Simon Parish, the life-sized sculpture of Our Lady of Guadalupe, known as the Pilgrim Mother, will continue its journey through the Archdiocese of Chicago.
The next destination for the statue is Mother of the Americas Parish at 3047 W. Cermak Rd. in Chicago’s Little Village neighborhood. An opening Mass will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 22, at 7 p.m., with Most Rev. Timothy J. O’Malley, Episcopal Vicar for Vicariate I, presiding over the liturgy.
From Oct. 23 to Nov. 9, parishioners and visitors are invited to take part in "Virgen Peregrina: Por la Paz y el Amor" (Pilgrim Mother: For Peace and Love), an event that aims to bring the message associated with Tepeyac to those who cannot travel to the Basilica in Mexico City.
The statue was created by Mexican artist Jorge Ismael Rodríguez and is intended to provide an immersive experience involving faith, music, and reflection.
