The annual fall play by Pius X High School in Lincoln will be held at a different location this year due to ongoing construction of a new performing arts center at the school. The “Pius Players” are set to stage “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” from October 16 to 19 at the Lincoln Southwest High School Theater, located at 7001 S. 14th St.
Director Sarah Moje referenced a line from the story: “We may be poor, we may be starving, but the Bucket family always thinks positive.” She added, “This recurring line from the classic tale of ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’ serves as an inspiration for us all, as we embrace the challenges the Lord allows in our lives – challenges that lead to conversion, salvation and His glory. The Pius X theater department is excited to embrace this philosophy as we embark on a new journey for the next two years.”
Moje noted that although the theater department does not currently have its own space for rehearsals and performances, their commitment remains unchanged. “Our mission to reclaim the arts for Christ remains strong,” she said.
She also thanked Lincoln Southwest High School for providing access to its facilities during this period.
“Come join us on this journey through Willy Wonka’s chocolate factory and be swept into the magical story of young Charlie Bucket and his ever-faithful hope and optimism,” Moje said. She described the production as a “delicious tale, overflowing with charm, creativity, humor, and hope; a wonderful story for all ages.”
Tickets can be reserved in advance via www.piusx.net or purchased at the door. Performances are scheduled for October 16, 17, and 18 at 7 p.m., with a matinee on Sunday, October 19 at 1:30 p.m., all taking place at Lincoln Southwest High School Theater.
