Our Lady of Good Counsel Retreat House in Waverly is organizing two one-day retreats in November aimed at providing spiritual growth and community for men and women.

On November 22, Father Jay Buhman will lead a retreat specifically for mothers with young children. The “Retreat for Moms of Young People” will run from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and may be live streamed if there is enough interest. The retreat is designed to accommodate nursing babies, and each participant will have access to a private room for rest, prayer, or childcare needs. The program includes talks, prayer, confession, community time, and opportunities for silence, taking into account the challenges of motherhood.

Lauren Bassinger, a mother of four from North American Martyrs Parish in Lincoln who previously attended the retreat, said it was “perfect for moms with littles.” She added that the event offered solidarity, encouragement, and a reminder that “holiness is for all phases of life,” even amid the demands of raising children.

The following day, on November 23, the retreat house will host “Fathers Know Best: Consecration to St. Joseph,” a one-day event for men and fathers. Coffee and fellowship will begin at 8:30 a.m., with the retreat running from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Catholic speakers will lead discussions focused on St. Joseph as an example for Christian fatherhood and family life. Attendees are encouraged to start a 33-day consecration to St. Joseph beginning November 25, which will continue through Advent and end on December 28, the Feast of the Holy Family. Books for the consecration will be available for purchase.

The men’s retreat will also include Sunday Mass, confession, talks, group discussion, prayer, and time for silence.

For more information or to register for either retreat, visit www.goodcounselretreat.org or contact the retreat house by phone or email.
