Catholic Charities of Philadelphia (CCoP) will mark National Recovery Month by holding the Sixth Annual Mercy Hospice Recovery Walk on September 29, 2025. The event aims to support individuals in recovery and honor those who have died due to addiction.
The walk will take place at Mercy Hospice, located at 334 South 13th Street in Philadelphia. Participants will include current and former residents of Mercy Hospice, CCoP staff, supporters, and residents from other CCoP housing programs. Most Reverend John J. McIntyre, Auxiliary Bishop of Philadelphia who oversees CCoP as part of his administrative and pastoral duties, is scheduled to attend.
The event will begin with a prayer service before participants walk through the Washington Square West neighborhood. A light dinner at Mercy Hospice will conclude the program.
"Mercy Hospice, part of the Housing and Homeless Services Division of CCoP, is a residential program in Philadelphia providing a safe, supportive, and sober residential environment for women in recovery. Mercy Hospice welcomes over 30 single women and mothers with children, offering case management, life skills training, supportive services, and preparation for independent living to help them build a stable future," according to Catholic Charities of Philadelphia.
CCoP states its commitment to restoring families and supporting those affected by substance use disorders as well as their loved ones.
